Samsung sizes up its notebook computer, a 19-inch Desknote announced!

We need the kind of USB computers or much more lighter and portable notebook computer, such as UMPC, for the ease of transporting while traveling. But it seems to be Samsung is doing the opposite, sizing up its notebook computer instead of sizing it down. They have just launched a new notebook PC in Korea, which its screen size is 19 inch. The 19-inch notebook computer is called Desknote ‘Sens G25′. Samsung’s got the point here, the 19 -inch Desknote is a kind of notebook PC designed for using on the desk, which could be an alternative of a desktop PC. Although a 12-inch or 14-inch laptop or an UMPC is very much easier for transportation. But it always gives some kind of frustration of having to work on the limited screen size of such a laptop. Especially frustrating while working on graphic-intensive stuff or work that need bigger screen to have a better viewing for better productivity.

Dell 2009W 20-Inch LCD Monitor

Dell's got a new 20-inch monitor. It's below our size-threshold for external displays here at Giz, but as Dell sells some of the best computer LCDs around, it's worth noting that this screen has a 2000:1 contrast ratio, better than the 1000:1 in their 22-incher.

It also has a 1680 x 1050 res, 4USB ports, a 102% color gamut, a HDCP compliant DVI port for watching protected movies on, and that nice telescoping Dell stand. $289. [Dell , thanks E. Resley!]

And, yeah, we'll get a flash pic of it, even if they throw us out for doing it. Available 1Q of this year, To talk about the graphics behind it, Dell's bringing up Jen-Hsun Huang, CEO of nVidia./600. Huang's talking up the Renegade's graphics engine, the nForce 4 SLI X16 chipset. Two GPUs on one card, giving the power of 4 GPUs on a PC. 2GB dedicated frame buffer, 41 gigapixels per second throughput. 5.2 teraflops of computing power. Huang calls it a graphics supercomputer. "Almost supernatural speed." Into gaming? This sounds sick!

Live coverage of Michael Dell

2:25 - Here we are at the Sands, with CES-issue loud music pumping from the speaker system, getting us amped up for the man to take the stage. On stage are several already-announced products, including displays and laptops, along with the usual black-shrouded "secret" products.

2:30 - They just issued a warning not to do any flash photography during the speech "for the comfort of our speakers." Come on, Mike. Get a pair of sunglasses if you can't stand the bright glare of fame.

2:35 - CEA boss Gary Shapiro has taken the stage given his usual effusive intro. This guy is busy!

2:36 - Here comes Mike, amid still more loud music and bright lights, including a very Vegas-style flashing Dell logo behind him on the stage.

The recession is hitting everyone. But print media companies -- newspapers, books and magazines -- are getting hit harder and sooner than most. It's their own damned fault. Like the US automakers and the music industry, print media companies squandered most of their time and money during boom times clinging to the past rather than preparing for the future. And now they're left totally unprepared for the bust.
